Is your teen depressed, angry, withdrawing or having academic or social problems?
Often times with
children, stressful relationships, conflict in the family, developmental challenges or a diminished
self-worth manifest in acting-out behaviors.
Exploring the origins of their anger and confusion, providing a context for their feelings,
and the gaining of insight and self-acceptance, translates into new ways of engaging with others
and thinking about oneself.
If a parent is unable or unwilling to provide a safe, nurturing environment in which their
child can explore and grow - it alters a teens ability to navigate the numerous hurdles and
overwhelming mix of emotions present at this time in their lives. Lashing out at others or turning
the anger in on themselves can damage their spirit or push them to make unhealthy or dangerous decisions.
The sooner the underlying issues are addressed, the better. Therapy can be the place to
acknowledge the damage done, minimize its impact and find a path to a more fulfilling future.
